Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
