This Best Local Multiplayer Title You've Likely Never Tried Arrives to Switch
Wizard of Legend 2, a roguelike adventure featuring sorcerers aiming to become mythical figures, makes its debut to the Switch later this month. It'll be accessible the 25th of November, providing enthusiasts of couch co-op titles a second chance to check out one of the year's most impressive entries in this category.
A Rocky Start
Wizard of Legend 2 has followed the path of many lesser-known titles. Its creators launched it in early access in the fall of 2024 on PC platforms, ahead of launching it fully, in conjunction with PS5 and Xbox versions, in mid-2025. At launch, it was widely panned. Just 29 percent of its audience ratings were complimentary. Its feedback on Steam were "mixed", based on close to two thousand evaluations, with numerous users critiquing the general lack of polish and multitude of glitches initially. Gamers on PlayStation and Xbox additionally condemned that the cooperative mode, a major attraction for the title, was largely non-functional.
Consistent Improvements
But similar to many pre-release games that debut in rough states, The Wizard of Legend Sequel has been shaping up. Over the past few months, the creators have deployed multiple updates aimed to fix these issues. After playing Wizard of Legend II more than every other latest game this year, it's safe to state its functionality has improved than it was upon release (on Xbox Series X, anyway). It's hit the stage where most of the time, I can actually get a cooperative run to function. Pretty good!
If It Works, This Game Shines
And if The Wizard of Legend Sequel functions, it performs excellently. With a top-down angle, you fight through elemental-themed dungeons by using magic in fast-paced combat. A great deal of rushing, plenty of avoiding, lots of handling spell delays. This game is dizzyingly fast-paced and highly imaginative; when you mix and match your spells with a friend's, you can devise some devastating combinations.
Nintendo Switch Version Information
Although the portable iteration has not been thoroughly evaluated, it's worth noting the very demanding quality standards for games on the Switch. The development team confirmed via an announcement that this edition of Wizard of Legend II incorporates all updates that were implemented in the current year.
